What is Get This?

You can have circulating books sent from Ann Arbor to Flint using Get This. You can also use the Get This to place a hold on a book that's on loan to someone else, or to have the book retrieved and held for you at the Circulation Desk.

To request a book or place a hold, you must login to the Library Catalog with your uniqname, password, and Duo.

How to Place Get This Request

Steps to place Get This request:

1. To include items from Ann Arbor's collection, change the Library Scope filter from "Flint Thompson Library" to "All Libraries."

2. When searching the Library Catalog, if you see a book that Ann Arbor has that you wish to order, click the "Get This" link.

3. Login with your UMICH or synced password.

4. Choose the option to "Pick it up at the Library." Make sure the Pick Up Location is set to UM-Flint.

NOTE: The UM-Flint library does not support the options "Have it Delivered" and "Request to have a small portion scanned."

How Long Does It Take?

Response time varies from 2-5 days, if the book is on the shelf, to weeks or more if it is on order or currently on loan to someone else. Get This can be used to request for circulating items only.

The Thompson Library typically gets deliveries of requested materials on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the afternoon.

(The quickest way to obtain an item is to go to the owning library and find it yourself on the shelves. You can use your MCard to borrow materials from most UM Libraries in Ann Arbor and Dearborn.)

Get This vs. Interlibrary Loan

Get This

Having books sent from the Ann Arbor campus to the Thompson Library, and placing a recall or hold on a circulating book.

Interlibrary Loan:

Obtaining articles that are not available at UM-Flint. Obtaining books and other circulating materials that are not available at UM-Flint or UM-Ann Arbor.
