Description

Dataset for analyzing social and economic effects of research investments.

More Info

The IRIS UMETRICS research dataset (accessed through a virtual data enclave) is useful for analyzing the social and economic effects of research investments, the scientific production function, the career outcomes and earnings of doctoral students and trainees, questions pertaining to science and engineering workforce and the STEM pipeline among many other possible topics.

This rich dataset has been utilized by researchers in various fields, including higher education, economics, and sociology, to gain insights into research funding, collaboration, and impact.

Available for free to researchers at UM, as UM is a member of the Institute for Research on Innovation and Science (IRIS), and unit of the Institute for Social Research (ISR). To access this restricted data, apply to IRIS. Applications must include a description of the relevant research project; an IRB determination letter from the relevant institution; completion of training; and, for researchers at institutions that are not members of IRIS, payment of a seat fee.
