U-M Flint's subscription to RefWorks expires at the end of 2020. See below for more information.
As of January 1, 2021, the Thompson Library will no longer subscribe to RefWorks. The librarians spent several years assessing whether we could justify absorbing the continual price increases, but concluded that its access and functionality have not been satisfactory since the transition to the new version of RefWorks several years ago. We also took into consideration the fact that both U-M Ann Arbor and U-M Dearborn have canceled their subscriptions.
We are now recommending EndNote Web, as it is a more stable citation manager, with a free account available for anyone to use. To use EndNote from off campus, you must first create a personal account. N.B.: Our account does not include access to EndNote Desktop edition, which must be purchased by individual users.
We will be conducting brown bag sessions over the course of 2020 in the Thompson Library, White Building, and Riverfront. These sessions should help you to move your citations from RefWorks into EndNote, as well as familiarize you with how EndNote Web works. Keep an eye out for announcements of these sessions. As always, please let the librarians know if you would like to learn EndNote or would like one of us to present EndNote to your class (or any other of our library services!).
In the meantime, below are some links to information on using RefWorks. However, we recommend switching to EndNote or another tool as soon as practicable.
