Meet Your Librarian: Jennifer Dean

About Me

 

Dr. Jennifer L. Dean is the Director of the Frances Willson Thompson Library and Genesee Historical Collections Center at the University of Michigan-Flint, where she is responsible for strategic, financial, facilities, and personnel management of the library and archives. She holds a PhD in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education from Michigan State University and a Master of Library and Information Science from Wayne State University, as well as a Bachelor and Master of Music in bassoon performance from Central Michigan University and Northwestern University, respectively. Dean’s scholarly interests include organizational leadership, learning, and communication; change management; and academic library collections, and she has numerous presentations and publications to her credit. She currently serves as Chair of the Michigan Academic Library Association’s Deans/Directors/Leaders Interest Group and is part of the copy-editing team for the journal Hypothesis: Research Journal for Health Information Professionals. Her experience includes professional and staff positions in public and academic libraries, and she has previously served as President of the Michigan Library Association’s Board of Directors and Michigan Chapter Councilor with the Council of the American Library Association.
