Library Launches Fiction+ Book Club

by Liz Svoboda on 2025-09-16T17:04:00-04:00 in English & Literature, Fun Reading | 0 Comments

Over the summer, Katie Emery, CIT student, reached out to me to inquire about whether or not the library would be interested in helping her begin a fiction book club on campus because she rejoined her local book club when she was home from the summer and missed it during the fall and winter semesters. And so a partnership was born.

Our plan is to meet on the third Thursday of the month in the evening to discuss a new book each month. The book choice will be up to the members and the library can supply a limited number of copies across different formats, so we're focusing on titles that are widely available through the local public libraries as well.

Our first book choice is The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst. A cozy romantasy about a librarian and her sentient spider plant assistant rescuing books from a burning library and hiding away on a remote island where she becomes part of the local community and finds love. Join us on Thursday, September 18 from 5:30 - 6:30 either in the library's conference room (Library 320) or online (register to get the Zoom link)! We'll talk about the book and select books for October and possibly November.

See the library's website for more information about the club and upcoming dates. All events are also listed in Campus Connections.
