Over the last few months, the librarians have been rolling out some changes to the Thompson Library website and its resources. We hope you like them!
QuickSearch
The Thompson Library's homepage search tool has a new name and some new features. Formerly called Search All (on the homepage) and Primo VE (elsewhere), QuickSearch is a great tool for discovery, whether you're writing a paper for ENG 112, working on a dissertation, or something in between. It searches what we have in most of our databases: articles, e-books, journals, audio, video, reports & documents. If we have online access to something, you can probably find it using QuickSearch. We've worked on making QuickSearch more user-friendly, and revamped a search tab specifically for newspaper articles [image]. Give QuickSearch a try!
Streaming Video Link
Whether looking for documentaries, feature films, video instruction, or something else altogether, a lot of people come to the Thompson Library website specifically to find videos. Until recently, however, Kanopy, one of our biggest sources of video content, wasn't included in QuickSearch, and people often had to search several different video databases to find what they were looking for. But now, you can find both Kanopy and Alexander Street videos in QuickSearch! To make it easier, we added a QuickSearch link to our homepage that searches specifically for video.
ChatBot
As you may know, librarians can answer questions via chat (among other methods). But if you have a question after hours or other times when a librarian isn't available, you can use our improved chatbot. Although some chatbots use artificial intelligence, this is a simpler tool designed to guide you to the information you need. But if it's not answering your question, you have the option of opening a help ticket that a librarian will answer the next business day. (And if you don't want to use the chatbot, you can open a help ticket anytime, day or night, and a librarian will reply.)
