QuickSearch Help Guide

How to Use QuickSearch

QuickSearch is the Thompson Library's discovery tool. In it, you can find books, articles, journals, streaming video, financial reports, government documents, and lots of other things.

  • To see what's available for a topic you're researching, search for relevant words or phrases. Examples:
    • glass crazing
    • "East Timor" OR "Timor-Leste"
  • To find a specific article, book, chapter, etc., search for the title in quotation marks, or search for the DOI, ISBN, or other identifying information. Examples:
    • Title in quotes: "Clearing the air : the rise and fall of smoking in the workplace"
      • Hint: If the search for a title doesn't find it, try removing the quotation marks or the subtitle (the colon and the words that follow it). And watch for spelling errors!
    • DOI: 10.1075/jhl.20011.str
    • ISBN: 978-0252052880 or 1-4939-6964-1
  • To search course reserves, find a journal, or search newspapers, use the appropriate tab at the top of QuickSearch. [image]
