Thanks to donors during recent Giving Tuesday and Giving Blue Day campaigns and Marian E. Wright, the Thompson Library will be updating the furniture between the library entrance and Writing Center on the third floor. Library staff and faculty have been working with Steelcase over the past few months picking out the materials and layout to make the third floor space more welcoming and cohesive rather than its current catch-all appearance.
This refresh will add approximately 40 new seats in various configurations to accommodate different modes of study and collaboration, from individual study spaces to those who may require space to work in groups. The upgrades include new tables, benches, individual seats and carrels as well as semi-partitioned off group spaces.
The furniture is scheduled to arrive in early/mid April or possibly early May to avoid any disruptions with the end of the semester and final exams. Stay tuned for more updates!
