PrimoVE is live on the library homepage. Course Reserves are live and using the PrimoVE search interface as well. Summon will be removed September 30, 2021. Journal Titles search will also be replaced by PrimoVE at that point.
The University of Michigan Library upgraded to a new technology platform over the summer, and with it came a new library search interface for UM-Flint, a tool called PrimoVE (pronounced PREE-mo-VEE). PrimoVE will replace Summon, the tool that has powered the library's Search All for the last few years, and provides equivalent functionality.
We are still working to iron out all the kinks in PrimoVE. We welcome your feedback, and ask for your understanding during this time of transition. PrimoVE and Summon will be running simultaneously through Tuesday, Oct 12, 2021 after which Summon will be unavailable. Both are currently functional on our homepage.
We will be scheduling training sessions and sharing help videos in the coming weeks.
As always - librarians are available to help with finding and accessing any information or resources you may need. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns!
As announced in the University Record on March 25, 2021 the U.M. Flint and Ann Arbor libraries will transition to a new platform for our cataloging and circulation functions. The new platform will be better able to handle modern digital formats than the current system, which is more than 30 years old.
The migration will begin in mid-June and should last about six weeks. Additionally, U.M. Flint will be adopting PrimoVE as our new discovery tool; our current tool (Summon) is not compatible with the new platform. For the most part this process will not affect users' abilities to search or request material from the library, but there will be some slight interruptions in mid-July when the final transition takes place.
