Welcome to the mathematics research guide at the Thompson Library. This guide has online resources and some print resources for mathematics research.

Both books and journal articles are used in mathematics research. The Library Catalog will identify books, both print and digital, available at the Thompson Library. The main tool used to identify in articles in mathematical journals is MathSciNet.

Mathematicians usually go to this resource first since it tracks most professional mathematics publications. Entire articles are not always available from MathSciNet.

arXiv for Mathematics
For the latest in math publications this is one of the free websites that posts those articles.

SIAM journals and e-books This link opens in a new window
These are the electronic publications (journals, e-books and conference proceedings) of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
Scholarly journals in mathematics and computer science cover 1997-present.
E-books include: science, engineering, statistics/probability, data mining, computational science, economics/finance, and more, 1961-present.

ScienceDirect Mathematical Resources
ScienceDirect is a product of Elsevier publishing. They publish across several different science disciplines. This link goes to their math journals and electronic books.

OERs for Mathematics

University of Minnesota OER Math textbooks
The University of Minnesota has become a clearing house for OER textbooks. This is their mathematics section.
OER Commons Mathematics textbooks
This is one of the first sites to set-up an on-going OER resources for educators. Some of the material is geared to K-12 and not higher education.
