Welcome to the Physics research guide at the Thompson Library. This guide will provide mostly online resources with a few print resources related to Physics. The online resources are available off-campus for currently enrolled students and current employees of the University of Michigan-Flint.
Most Physics research starts with journal articles. Take a look at Frequently Used Databases below to identify articles on your topic.
Compendex: 1884-present. Scientific and technical engineering research available, covering all engineering disciplines.
INSPEC: World-wide literature (mainly journal articles and conference proceedings papers) in astronomy, physics, electronics and electrical engineering, computers and control, information technology, computer science, control engineering, information technology, manufacturing & mechanical engineering, operations research, material science, oceanography, engineering mathematics, nuclear engineering, environmental science, geophysics, nanotechnology, biomedical technology, and biophysics.
GeoRef: Index to the literature of the geosciences. Topics include: all aspects of geology, solid-earth geophysics, mineralogy, paleontology, petrology, geochemistry, geochronology, energy, and stratigraphy. Contains over 2.9 million references to geoscience journal articles, books, maps, conference papers, reports, and theses.
Knovel provides precise answers faster with high-quality reference content, text and numeric search, interactive tools, and desktop and mobile options. Additional features are available in Knovel Library, which is on a separate platform.
