However, to reach their potential they require savvy operators, supervisors and leaders with the necessary knowledge and know-how.  

  • Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply -- CIPS

CIPS is the premier global organisation serving the procurement and supply profession. Dedicated to promoting best practice, CIPS provides a wide range of services for the benefit of members and the wider business community.

  • Supply Chain Management Association --  SCMA  -- Canada

Within the SCMA Federation, each organization is an independent, stand-alone not-for-profit association with its own mandates to serve the unique needs of its stakeholders. However, the individual parties have recognized that there are many areas where a coordinated and collaborative approach is in the best interest of the combined membership, as well as the profession of supply chain management. As a result, the parties have formalized the relationship diagrammed below through a Federation Agreement, signed in June of 2015.

  • Canadian Operational Research Society --  CORS  -- Canada

The Canadian Operational Research Society (CORS), a.k.a. Sociéte canadienne de recherche opérationnelle (SCRO), is the leading Canadian professional society for operational researchers. Established in 1958, CORS brings together OR professionals with annual conferences held across Canada, special interest groups, traveling speakers programs, and student support. CORS sponsors the INFOR journal, an ISI-listed journal focusing on operations research, operations management, analytics, and information systems, and also publishes the Bulletin, a newsletter of the Society and related activities.

Recognizing the vital role of the supply chain to Canada's economy, the Council is committed to enhancing the sector's ability to attract and retain workers at all levels and across the full range of functions, and to advancing the skills of those workers."

  • Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences -- INFORMS

The largest society in the world for professionals in the field of operations research (O.R.), management science, and analytics.  INFORMS serves the scientific and professional needs of Analytics Professionals and Operations Researchers including educators, scientists, students, managers, analysts, and consultants. The Institute serves as a focal point for analytics and O.R. professionals, permitting them to communicate with each other and reach out to other professional societies, as well as the varied clientele of the profession's research and practice.  Services provided include: 

  • Publishing 14 scholarly journals that describe the latest O.R. and analytics methods and applications and an industry and  membership magazine with news from across the profession.
  • Organizing national and international conferences for academics and professionals, as well as for members of the society's special interest groups.
  • Providing analytics certification and continuing education to assist members and others in furthering their career
  • Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers -- IIE

IISE is the world's largest professional society dedicated solely to the support of the industrial and systems engineering profession and individuals involved with improving quality and productivity. Founded in 1948, IISE is an international, nonprofit association that provides leadership for the application, education, training, research, and development of industrial and systems engineering. ISEs figure out a better way to do things and work in a wide array of professional areas, including management, manufacturing, logistics, health systems, retail, service and ergonomics. They influence policy and implementation issues regarding topics such as sustainability, innovation and Six Sigma.

Founded in 1969, PMI delivers value for more than 2.9 million professionals working in nearly every country in the world through global advocacy, collaboration, education and research.  They concentrate on advancing careers, improving organizational success and furthering to mature the profession of project management through globally recognized standards, certifications, resources, tools, academic research, publications, professional development courses and networking opportunities.

  • Productions and Operations Management Society -- POMS

Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) is an international professional organization representing the interests of POM professionals from around the world.
The purposes of the Society are:

  • to extend and integrate knowledge that contributes to the improved understanding and practice of production and operations management (POM);
  • to disseminate information on POM to managers, scientists, educators, students, public and private organizations, national and local governments, and the general public; and
  • to promote the improvement of POM and its teaching in public and private manufacturing and service organizations throughout the world.
  • European Operations Management Association -- EUROMA

EurOMA is an international network of academics and practitioners from around the world who have a common interest in the continuing development of Operations Management. EurOMA is a European-based network with rapidly growing international links, whereby members can share their ideas, knowledge, and experience. It is a communication network that bridges the gap between research and practice. Together with its American counterpart POMS (Production and Operations Management Society) and JOMSA (Japanese Operations Management and Strategy Association) in Asia, EurOMA is working towards extending the arena of OM throughout the world by bringing the professionals in the field closer together.  In the spirit of networking, EurOMA maintains reciprocal links to other groups that are actively involved in OM.

  • Manufacturing, Service Operations Management -- MSOM (division of INFORMS)

The Manufacturing and Service Operations Management Society (MSOM) promotes the enhancement and dissemination of knowledge, and the efficiency of industrial practice, related to the operations function in manufacturing and service enterprises. The methods which MSOM members apply in order to help the operations function add value to products and services are derived from a wide range of scientific fields, including operations research and management science, mathematics, economics, statistics, information systems and artificial intelligence. The members of MSOM include researchers, educators, consultants, practitioners and students, with backgrounds in these and other applied sciences.
