There are three library navigation tools available for Canvas courses: Library Course Reserves, Library Resources, and Ask a Librarian.
- Library Course Reserves leads to a link to search within the library course reserve system. This will be useful for classes which have materials in course reserve.
- Library Resources embeds a library course or subject guide into your Canvas course. The integration is set up so that if a library webpage created specifically for your class exists (a course guide) it will embed. If no course guide exists, the subject guide related to your course will populate, i.e., any nursing classes will have the nursing subject guide embedded and any chemistry class will have the chemistry subject guide embedded. There will be a few exceptions to this process, mainly those FYE courses with no course guide (because the library doesn’t have an FYE subject guide).
- If you would like the library to create a course guide for your class, would like a different subject guide linked to your class (e.g., the Flint and Local History guide instead of the larger History subject guide), or have questions about this tool, please contact Liz Svoboda.
- Ask a Librarian embeds the library's Ask a Librarian page into your course, so that students can easily use the library's chat system or contact the library without leaving their course.
